In this study a strong inverse relationship was found to exist between the size of the tree canopy in the Baltimore area and the incidence of robbery, burglary, theft, and shooting. After making conservative adjustments to the research model, the study results indicated that a 10% increase in canopy size correlated with a decrease in crime of approximately 12%.
